Cloud Computing

Cloud computing is one of the major field in information technology. Cloud Computing is the on-demand availability of computer system resources, especially data storage (cloud storage) and computing power, without direct active management by the user.

Cloud Computing is named as such because the information being accessed is found remotely in the cloud or a virtual space.

Cloud computing services fall into 4 categories. They are Infrastructure as a service (IaaS), Platform as a service (PaaS), Software as a service (SaaS), and Function as a service (FaaS). Fundamental building blocks of computing that can be rented, physical or virtual servers, storage, and networking known as IaaS. Platform as a service (PaaS) refers to the supply of an on-demand environment for developing, testing, delivering, and managing software applications. Software as a service (SaaS) is a method for delivering software applications over the internet as per the demand and on a subscription basis. SaaS helps to host and manage the software application and underlying infrastructure and handle any maintenance. FaaS adds another layer of abstraction to PaaS so that developers are completely insulated from everything in the stack below their code.

Based on the cloud location, it can classify the cloud as,

  • Public
  • Private
  • Hybrid
  • Community cloud

The public cloud is a whole computing infrastructure is located on the premises of a cloud computing company that offers the cloud service. No capital investment, no maintenance and update costs, pay- as – you use pricing and lower energy costs are benefits of public cloud comping.

A private cloud is an environment in which all hardware and software resources are dedicated exclusively to, and accessible only by a single customer. Many organizations choose public over private because of flexibility, guaranteed resource availability, strong security.

A hybrid cloud is a solution that combines a private cloud with one or more public cloud services, with proprietary software enabling communication between each distinct service. Because of greater architectural flexibility, more technical control, technical predictability, and better security, business organizations choose this Hybrid cloud.

A community cloud is a cloud infrastructure that allows systems and services to be accessible by a group of several organizations to share the information. It is owned, managed, and operated by one or more organizations in the community, a third party, or a combination of them. High availability and reliability, flexibility, security, convenience and control, environmental sustainability are benefits of community clouds.

AWS (Amazon Web Services), Microsoft Azure, and Google cloud platforms are major cloud suppliers in the world.

Today we can connect everything digitally to cloud computing. It provides jobs, applications, platforms, and services. In the future, we can see cloud computing as a combination of cloud-based software products.
